University of Chester

University of Chester

We are delighted to welcome you to the University of Chester’s School of Education. Our work here is concerned with the education and welfare of young people. We offer courses that equip you to work in professional situations, early years settings, to become teaching assistants or to teach in schools.

Chester is the most experienced teacher training institution in Great Britain; we have been in the business since 1839 when the first Teacher
Training College was built here. However, most of what we do would be unrecognisable to those early pioneers.

The School of Education now offers six routes to teaching from one year to four years; from early years through primary to secondary. We also offer training towards the newly transformed learning community: education studies, teaching assistance, and Continuing Professional Development.
